We just finished meeting with Pres. Hall and new changes for the ASL program are on the horizon. It truly is amazing to be able to see the miracles that the Lord is doing here in the Orlando Mission. The work is still slow and there is a lot that we need to do, but day after day we see a tender mercy that reminds us this is the Lord's Program and He is beside us every step of the way.
We met Sis. Lovejoy on Tuesday morning at the Mission Office, did a few hours of study at the Kissimmee Chapel ... then apparently killed her off! Who knew walking around in the Florida sun, taking an hour and a half bus ride down to Poinciana, walking around a few hours, and taking a bus back up to Kissimmee would wear out a newbie who was wearing all black, w/ nylons and black closed toed shoes. Lol! And, to top it all off, it was our first time trying the Lynx bus system here in Orlando! I'd have to say it's not too bad. We have our adventures with the people we meet on the bus!
But we continue forth as the ASL three-some and we're having a blast! It's been a lot of fun! To welcome her to the mission (besides our first day activities), we made her a cake. I didn't have time to make my birthday cake, so we decided to make it for Sis. Lovejoy - and add a bit of randomness to it. It started when I was making the Devil's Food batter. I noticed we had some of those frozen bananas in our freezer (annoying) and I asked if I could throw a few in the batter. Sis. Homer convinced me to only put ONE (I was thinking about three). Then, when I was prepping for the frosting, Sis Homer told me about her mom who mixes frosting with pudding. The only pudding packet we had was pistachio, so we made the pudding and mixed it with chocolate frosting. To top it all off, we added blueberries and strawberries on top and sprinkled nilla wafer crumbs. Sounds weird, right? But it was a blast to make and Sis. Lovejoy LOVED IT!! Today, we still had half a cake so we left it in the office to allow the Elders to eat it up for us.
And, I don't really have any questions - at least none I can think of right now. So, lots of love!
‘Make no small plans: They have no magic to stir man’s souls.’ This is the vision I have for the South. I believe that one day the South will baptize more people into the church than all other English speaking missions in the world together. There are great hosts of marvelous Baptists, and members of the church of Christ, Methodists and Catholics who are honorable people, and have faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and love him. As they see their church veering off to the right or to the left of these basic teachings, they will begin to search for the truth. And as pivotal teachers come into the church and have influence, we will see the time when we baptize hundreds and thousands, tens of thousands. In your day you will see a million members of the church in the South. There will be Temples plural in the Southern States. What a great call you have to serve with these marvelous people. ~Spencer W Kimball (1974)
